Turtle Using an Egg Carton Craft is a cute way to use resources wisely and make something to display in your house or give as a gift. You can learn how to do it through directions, pictures, and a short video at the end of the post. Let’s get started!
Egg carton
Scissors
Two green color paints (light color and dark color)
Green pom pom
Green pipe cleaner
Hot glue gun
Small googly eyes
Step 1
Start by separating a single egg cup from the carton. Carefully cut around the edges to make it neat and even. This will be your turtle's shell.
Step 2
When you are happy with the look of the cardboard piece it’s time to paint it. I’ve used lighter green color for the whole surface and darker green color for the dots after, but you can use them as you wish.
Step 3
Grab your green pipe cleaners and chop them into four equal sections. These will become the turtle's feet.
Step 4
With adult supervision, a hot glue gun can be used to secure pipe cleaners to the bottom of the egg carton. Carefully press each pipe cleaner onto the underside of the egg carton shell, positioning them towards the front and back of the turtle's legs. Hold for a few seconds to let the glue cool and harden.
Step 5
For the head, I’ve used a small green pom ball, the same color as the legs. To attach the ball, I’ve used a hot glue gun and glued the pom pom on the front of the green piece so you will get two legs on each side of the turtle. Then, take two small googly eyes and attach them to the head of the turtle. Make sure that the eyes you’ve chosen to use for the turtle are not too big compared to the whole body because it will look funny.
Step 6
To finish the look of the turtle just draw some round shapes on the back with the darker green color and leave it to dry one more time before you get back and start touching it again.
Step 7
There you have this little small turtle from an egg carton ready. If you have some other ideas about how to do the steps described above, feel free to use them. For example, you may use markers to paint the carton. I didn’t try that, but I think it will work as well, and it will take less time to dry.
This egg carton turtle craft is a fantastic way to spend time with your troop, promote creativity, and encourage eco-consciousness. So grab your egg cartons, get crafting, and watch your troop's imaginations hatch!
