5 Amazing Fall Fun Patches With Activities To Use With Your Troop

|

Time to read 2 min

Fall is a fantastic time for Girl Scouts! The season is packed with opportunities, from crisp outdoor adventures and classic fall festivals to celebrating Juliette Gordon Low's birthday on October 31st.

While we all love earning official badges for the front of the vest, it's just as much fun to participate in cool events and programs to earn fall fun patches for the back! These five patches are perfect for capturing the spirit of autumn with your troop.

5 Fall Fun Patches

Hayride Fun Patch: Embrace the Fall Breeze

Are your Girl Scouts going to go on a fun Hayride this fall season? This patch is the perfect way to remember the ride!

For added fun: Add music to the hayride, bring some of your favorite Girl Scout songs along with you and the girls can entertain the other riders with some good old fashion music.

Pumpkin Patch Fun Patch: Pick and Decorate

A visit to the pumpkin patch is a quintessential fall activity! This cute patch is a wonderful way to remember the day spent picking the perfect jack-o'-lantern.

  • Visit a Local Patch: Take the troop to a farm to select pumpkins. Encourage the girls to think about what they want to create before they pick—do they need a tall pumpkin for a witch or a wide one for a smiling face?

  • No-Carve Decorating: Carving can be messy and requires adult supervision. Instead, you can just plan for a no-mess decorating session right after picking, or back at your meeting place.

Corn Maze Fun Patch: Navigate, Teamwork, Triumph

This patch celebrates the fun challenge of getting lost and found! Navigating a corn maze is a perfect way to practice teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Visit a Local Corn Maze: Plan a trip to a nearby farm with a corn maze. Depending on the size, give your troop a designated time limit to complete the maze.

Juliette Low Fun Patch: Founders' Day Celebration

October 31st is more than just Halloween; it's Founders' Day and the birthday of the Girl Scouts founder, Juliette Gordon Low (1860-1927). This patch is a great reminder of who she was and the legacy she started.

  • Learn the Facts: Use an activity like the Juliette Poster Activity to make learning about her interactive. Cut out facts and corresponding pictures, and have the girls work in small groups to match them. They can then present one fact they found most interesting to the troop.

Halloween Fun Patch: Spooky Celebration

Planning a Halloween party is a fantastic troop bonding activity. This patch commemorates a fun-filled night of costumes, games, and spooky treats.

  • Hold a Themed Party: Have the troop plan the entire event! Let them choose a theme (e.g., Baby Day Out, Cats and Dogs, Super Heroes) and divide up the tasks: decorations, snacks, and games.

Enjoy every minute being a leader and continue to inspire your girls!
