First I thought I share with you all what a marionette is and what makes it such a cool craft to do with your troop.

What is a marionette? A marionette is a type of puppet controlled by strings or wires attached to various parts of its body. It is articulated and manipulated by a puppeteer using intricate movements of the strings or wires. Marionettes are typically made of wood, fabric, or other materials, and they have been used in theater, storytelling, and entertainment for centuries. The puppeteer uses the strings or wires to make the marionette appear to walk, dance, talk, and perform other actions, bringing it to life on stage. Today we are going to make a frog marionette out of recycled supplies.

Frog Marionette step 5

Step #6

Cut a small line in the middle of the frogs mouth which is where you are going to put the frogs tongue you made in last step.

Frog Marionette step 6

Step #7

Glue the red tongue on the back of frog head by pushing it through the hole you cut out of mouth on previous step.

Frog Marionette step 7

Step #8

Cut the corks in half. Once you have done that you will have 4 corks. These are going to be used for the feet of your frog.

Frog Marionette step 8

Step #9

Glue the head of your frog onto the painted green toilet roll.

Frog Marionette step 9

Cut the string so you have long enough to be able to hold up your frog when your done.  Longer is better for now you can always trim it later. You will glue one end of the string to each of the corks.

Frog Marionette step 10

Step #11

Make 4 holes on the toilet paper roll, two on the bottom and two on the top.

Frog Marionette step 11

Now put the thread inside the toilet roll leaving the cork to stand out for all 4 legs. You can make the bottom legs longer and other two shorter.

Frog Marionette step 12

Step #13

Now take other end and tie the 4 ends of the threads to the popsicle sticks. You can adjust the length of strings based on how you want your puppet to work.
