A fun activity to do with your girls is to have a Apple Fun Day. Fall is a great time to do this because it’s apple picking and cider season.

The ideas below are just a few of the fun things you can do to make your Apple fun day memorable.

Apple Games

Worm in the Apple

You will need to get a box large enough for your girls to crawl through. You will draw and color an apple on each side of the box with crayons, markers or paint. Cut a hole in the bottom of the apple. The apple box needs to be made before your girls arrive.

The girls get in a single line and take turns crawling through the box. While they are
crawling you need to play music and randomly stop the music. When the music stops the girl in the box is eliminated from the game. The last girl left in the line wins. You should let the girls go through the apple a few times before you start stopping the music.

Apple Scavenger Hunt

Prior to the girls arriving hide different kinds of apples throughout the meeting area. You place a sign next to the apple stating the name of that specific apple. (gala, red
delicious, honey crisp, etc.)

The girls get divided up in groups of 2 to 3 girls, with each team receiving the name
of the apple, that are on the list. The first team that finds all of the apples wins. You can put a number or symbol on the apple card to prove that the team really found the correct apple.

Hanging Apple

Tie a string to an apple and attach the top of the string to the ceiling or something secure so the apple doesn’t fall. You will need to do this for each girl in your group.

The girls need to stand behind the apple, with their hands behind their backs. Using only their mouth they need to try and take bites out of the apple. Using a clock or timer you
say “go” and the girls start eating. You can set your own time limit depending on the age of your group. When you say “stop” the girl that has eaten the most from her apple wins.
***Caution: Make sure the girls understand not to eat the string.***

Apple Craft

So yeah I know Apples are round. But I couldn’t help but post this adorable craft idea I made with my son using a piece of wood to make a apple person.

You will need: a wood block, red paint, pink paint, permanent black marker, paint brush, red ribbon, red checker ribbon, brown and green craft foam, wiggly eyes, white pom pom, white paper, small pencil, scissors, and glue.

How to make: First have girls paint the piece of wood red. Once the wood is dry glue the eyes, nose onto front of block and use marker to draw mouth. You can also use paint brush to paint the pink cheeks. Depending on age of your girls you can already have the arms, red cheeks, stem, green leaves and ribbon ready to go to just glue on or have girls cut out parts themselves. The girls will glue brown stem, green leaves, and ribbon to top of the block. Place the arms gluing checker ribbon on back and wrap around to front. Then glue the hands you drew and cut out of the white paper on the ends of ribbon. If you want to give apple something to hold I used a tiny pencil I had.

Apple Printing

Grab some apples, paint, and paper and have fun making some apple prints using actual apples. Here is a example of one I did with my kids.

Apple Snack Options

The options for snacks at your meeting using apples is pretty endless.

  • Apple cider
  • Apple pie
  • Sliced apples with caramel or other dips
  • Apple crisp
  • Dried apples
  • Apple cake
  • Apple muffin
  • Apple slices

Make Your Own Applesauce

If you want to teach your girls how to make applesauce here is a quick video showing you how to do it in 10 minutes or less from scratch. Of course if you have younger girls be careful with the hot stove but it could be great way to demonstrate how to do it if you are not comfortable letting them be near the stove.

Fun Patch Idea

After trying some wonderful snacks and learning about eating healthy get the healthy eating apple patch. This patch also includes some other amazing activities to do with your girls. Get yours here.
