How to Throw a Amazing Super Hero Theme Party For Your Girls

|

Time to read 4 min

Superheroes have a timeless appeal, inspiring courage, teamwork, and the belief that we can all make a difference. What better way to tap into that power than with a thrilling superhero-themed party for your Girl Scout troop? Whether you're working with Daisies or Seniors, this theme offers endless opportunities for fun, creativity, and badge work.

Why a Superhero Party?

A superhero party isn't just about dressing up; it's about empowering girls to discover their inner strengths and embrace their unique abilities. It's a chance to build camaraderie, foster teamwork, and celebrate the power of "girl power" in a fun and engaging way.  And its fun for the leaders as well.

Super-Powered Activities for All Ages

Crafting Their Superhero Identity

Provide craft kits or materials for girls to create their own personalized superhero masks. This allows them to express their creativity and embrace their chosen superhero persona.

Spiderman’s Web

Give girls silly string and go after the leaders with their webs. Of course the girls will have a blast hitting each other as well.

Variations:

  • Create teams and have a "web war."
  • Set up obstacles and have a silly string obstacle course.
  • Play tag, where the person who is “it” tags others with webs.

Spidery Obstacle course

What you need:

  • Tables, chairs, mattresses, or other safe obstacles to create a course.
  • Blindfolds (one for each pair).
  • Plastic spiders
  • Timer or stopwatch

Instructions:

  1. Set Up the Obstacle Course:
    • Arrange the tables, chairs, mattresses, and other obstacles to create a safe course.
    • Ensure enough space for the girls to move through the course without bumping into each other or dangerous items.
    • Scatter the plastic spiders throughout the obstacle course. Place them on the obstacles, under them, and in open areas.
  2. Divide the girls into pairs.
  3. Explain the Rules:
    • One girl in each pair will be blindfolded and must navigate the obstacle course using only the verbal instructions of her partner.
    • The goal is to collect as many plastic spiders as possible within one minute.
    • When one minute is up, the pairs will switch roles.
  4. Blindfold one girl in each pair. The not blindfolded partner will stand at the starting point and guide her blindfolded partner through the obstacle course using only her voice. Partners should use clear, concise instructions, such as "step forward," "turn left," "crawl under the table," and "pick up the spider."
  5. The blindfolded girl will attempt to collect as many plastic spiders as possible while navigating the obstacle course.
  6. Set a timer for one minute. When the timer goes off, the round is over.
  7. The girls in each pair will switch roles. The blindfolded girl will now guide her partner and vice versa.
  8. Repeat the process, timing each pair for one minute. After both girls in each pair have completed the course, count the number of spiders collected by each pair.
  9. The pair that collected the most plastic spiders wins the game.

Kryptonite Musical Chairs Variation

This game is played like musical chairs play music. You will need a green ball or balloon to play this game.

  1. Have the girls sit in a circle, almost shoulder to shoulder.
  2. Explain to the girls that they are all pretending to be Superman. Superman has amazing powers, but his weakness is Kryptonite. A green ball will represent Kryptonite.
  3. Tell the girls their mission is to pass the Kryptonite (green ball) around the circle.
  4. Start playing music.
  5. The girls pass the green ball (Kryptonite) around the circle while the music plays.
  6. When the music stops, the girl holding the ball is "weakened by Kryptonite" and is out of the game.
  7. The girl who is out leaves the circle.
  8. Start the music again, and the girls pass the ball. Repeat until only one player remains.
  9. The last girl remaining is the "strongest Superman" who overcame the Kryptonite.

Superhero Muscles

What You'll Need:

  • 30+ small balloons
  • Oversized, baggy clothing (adult sweatshirts and sweatpants work great)
  • Timer or stopwatch
  • Teams of 3-4 girls

How to Play:

  1. Inflate the balloons. Keep them small, no larger than 6 inches, for easy stuffing.
  2. Split the troop into teams of three or four girls.
  3. Each team selects one member to be their "Superhero."
  4. Have the chosen "Superhero" put on the oversized, baggy clothing.
  5. Explain the Challenge:
    • Tell the girls their mission is to give their "Superhero" the biggest, most impressive "muscles" by stuffing the balloons into their clothing.
  6. Set the timer for one or two minutes, depending on your troop's age and energy level.
  7. When you say "Go!" the team members work together to stuff as many balloons as possible into their "Superhero's" clothing.
  8. When the timer goes off, the stuffing stops.
  9. Each team counts the number of balloons stuffed into their "Superhero's" clothing.
  10. The team with the "Superhero" who has the most "muscles" (balloons) wins!

Sing a Superhero Song

The song Can-A-Woman is a very popular song with girls we used it at our day camps and meetings. Just added the line can a woman be super hero…and it fits right in.

Can A Woman?
Tune of “She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain”

Can a woman fly an airplane? Yes she can, yes she can!
Can a woman build a building? Yes she can, yes she can!

Can a woman fight a fire?
Can a woman change a tire?
Can a woman lead a choir?
Yes she can, yes she can!

Can a woman be a lawyer? Yes she can, yes she can!
Can a woman fix an engine? Yes she can, yes she can!

Can a woman be a drummer?
Can a woman be a plumber?
Can she play ball in the summer?
Yes she can, yes she can!

Can a woman be a doctor? Yes she can, yes she can!
Can a woman drive a tractor? Yes she can. yes she can!

Can a woman lead a nation?
Can she run a TV station?
Can she head a corporation?
Yes she can, yes she can!

CAN A WOMAN BE A SUPER HERO? Yes she can!

Just you wait until we’re older, then you’ll see
We’ll be women in tomorrow’s history!
As we grow up through the years
We’ll sing out loud and clear
Can we start the process here?
Yes we can, yes we can!!

A superhero-themed party is a fantastic way to create lasting memories and empower your Girl Scout troop. By incorporating a variety of activities, crafts, and games, you can create an unforgettable experience that celebrates the hero within each girl.

Enjoy every minute being a leader and continue to inspire your girls!
