🎁 Setting the Scene: Whoville Decorations & Inspiration

Your decorations can be simple, yet festive!

  • Color Scheme: Lean into bright, cheerful colors like red, light green, bright blues, and polka dots—anything that screams "Whoville!"

  • Welcome Sign: Place a "Welcome to Whoville!" sign by the entrance.

  • Heart of the Story: Feature one of the story's most famous lines:

"Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps means a little bit more!"

The Grinch Story Time or Movie

To set the mood, start the party with the source material.

  • Read Aloud: Read How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss. Use funny voices!

  • Watch It: If you have time, watch one of the movie adaptations (the classic animated short or the live-action version). This makes the games and crafts even more fun for girls who may be new to the tale.

🎨 Grow Your Own Heart Grinch Ornament Craft

Send your guests home with a keepsake! This is a simple, glittery craft.

What You Need:

  • Clear ornaments (plastic is safer for younger groups)

  • Black Sharpie markers

  • Adhesive spray (optional: can use floor polish for a less messy alternative)

  • Light green glitter

How to Make Them:

  1. Draw the Face: Use a black Sharpie to draw the Grinch's face on one side of the ornament. Girls can add their name or the year on the other side.

  2. Prep the Inside: Remove the top of the ornament.

  3. Apply Adhesive: Spray the adhesive into the ornament, swirling to coat the entire inside. Drain the excess over a paper towel.

  4. Glitter Time: Pour about 1/2 teaspoon of light green glitter inside. Swirl it until the entire interior is covered. Hold it upside down to prevent glitter from clumping at the bottom.

  5. Finish: Once dry, replace the top.

🏃 Grinch Ornament Roll Race

A hilarious, fast-paced game that only uses your nose!

What You Need:

  • Painters tape (easy to remove)

  • Small, non-breakable ornaments (similar size and shape for fairness)

How to Play:

  1. Use the painters tape to mark a Start Line and a Finish Line on opposite sides of the room.

  2. Have the girls get down on their hands and knees at the start line.

  3. Give each girl an ornament.

  4. On "Go," the girls must use only their nose to roll the ornament across the floor and over the finish line. No hands, feet, or pushing!

  5. The first girl to get her ornament over the line wins.

🥄 Stocking Stuffer Relay Race

A classic relay with a Christmas twist.

What You Need:

  • 2 Christmas stockings (hung at the finish line)

  • 2 spoons

  • Small, assorted trinkets (unbreakable ornaments, jingle bells, ping pong balls, etc.). You need an equal, manageable amount for each team.

How to Play:

  1. Divide the girls into two teams. Mark a starting line.

  2. The first girl on each team gets a spoon and balances one trinket on it.

  3. She must race to the stocking, carefully drop the item into it, and race back to hand the spoon to the next teammate.

  4. The race continues until one team has successfully transferred all of their "stocking stuffers" into the stocking.

😋 Whoville Munchies (Snacks)

Keep the snacks simple and on-theme.

  • Grinch Cookies: Bake large heart-shaped sugar cookies. Frost them green with a small red heart in the center to represent his tiny-turned-big heart.

  • Grinch Jello Cups: Prepare green gelatin in clear plastic cups. Flip them upside down and draw a Grinch face on the outside of the cup with a marker.

  • "Whoville Pudding": Any flavor of pudding works! Just label it with a fun sign that says "Whoville Pudding" and let the girls enjoy.
