I get commissions for purchases made through links on this post.

When it comes to connecting with others, writing is one of the most powerful tools we have. I’m excited to introduce you to Micheal Anderson, a writer, blogger, and dedicated supporter of Girl Scouts. She has been collaborating with troops across the U.S. to help them earn the Junior Scribe badge and the Brownie “It’s Your Story – Tell It” badge.

I wanted to share how Micheal can make your upcoming troop meetings both fun and engaging by connecting with an author.

How to Meet the Author

Micheal offers a fantastic opportunity for your troop to read together, write her letters, and invite her to a future meeting to discuss writing and her books.

  1. Read Together : Choose one of her books—Zoey Lyndon’s Big Move to the Lou or Zoey Lyndon and the Sticky Finger Bandit or Zoey Lyndon's Misadventures at Camp
    1. Bonus : If you pick Sticky Finger Bandit, download a free teacher’s guide to prompt discussions and activities as you read.

  2. Connect via Email : Email Micheal at everythingmicheal@gmail.com to arrange a Zoom meeting with your troop. Use the subject line “I’m Interested – Troop ####.”

  3. Write Letters : After scheduling the meeting, Micheal will provide a PO Box where girls can send letters. During the Zoom, she’ll take the time to answer their questions.

Here’s what one troop member had to say: “I read this book with my Girl Scout troop and I LOVED IT! I moved schools in second grade, so I really understood how Zoey felt! Meeting the author over Zoom and asking her questions was amazing!”

A little more about the author

As mentioned above Micheal Anderson is a writer, blogger, and longtime Girl Scout supporter.

She is the author of Zoey Lyndon’s Big Move to the Lou, a children’s middle grade book that encourages Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). She understands the significance of representation and wanted to create a book where black and brown girls could see themselves reflected. Historically, girls are tracked away from science and math early in their education, which is why Micheal chooses to focus on science in her Zoey Lyndon series. She is a long time advocate for empowering girls and volunteered with organizations such as Girl Scouts and the Junior League for close to 10 years. She is currently an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), Jack & Jill Associate of St. Louis, and the Junior League of St. Louis. When she is not writing, she enjoys jazz, travel, and spending time with her family.

She looks forward to working with young girls and being able to offer an exciting opportunity to troops. You can contact her directly through her website  everythingmicheal.com  or email  everythingmicheal@gmail.com  . Be sure to also follower her on Instagram  @everythingmicheal
