One fun thing to do with your girls is to teach them about another country everything from the people of country, weather, culture, food and more.
You can center your whole meeting around teaching the girls about Brazil. You can center your whole meeting around teaching the girls about Brazil. I’ve included some general facts about the country. Then beyond just the facts I have provided a pile of games, activities, fun patch suggestions, and other resources to make your event fun and educational.

Did you know? Brazil is the largest country in South America. The name comes from a tree called brazywood. It is the 5th largest country in the world. Brazil has 3 time zones. There are approximately 2500 airports in Brazil. A flight from New York to Brazil takes around 9.5 hours. Rio Carnival is the largest carnival in the world. Two million people walk the streets for parades, food and entertainment. It takes place 2 days prior to lent.
Geography of Brazil: There are 3,286,470 square miles in Brazil. Brazil shares a border with all South American countries except Chile and Ecuador. Brazil forms an enormous triangle, on the eastern side, of the continent. Sixty-percent of the Amazon Rainforest/Jungle is located in Brazil. Most of the climate is tropical. The Amazon river flows through Brazil. It’s the second largest river in the world.
Where are the people in Brazil: The population of Brazil is approximately 209 million people. The largest city is Sao Paulo which has a population of 12.4 million. The capital is Brasilia which has 2.9 million people. Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Fortaleza are all popular cities. The most famous landmark in Brazil is in Rio de Janerio called “The Christ Redeemer.”
Government in Brazil: The name of the government is called the Federative Republic of Brazil. It is a Democracy Federal Republic. It has a President, National Congress and a legal system. The federal government has 3 branches called executive, legislature and judicial.
Animals in Brazil: Brazil has the greatest variety of animals in the world. There are 600 mammal species, 1,500 fish species, 1,600 bird species and 100,00 different types of insects. Armadillo, tapirs, jaguars, pumas, toucans, boto, pink river dolphins, giant anaconda, huge guinea pigs and alligators are just a few of the animals.
Economy in Brazil: Brazil has one of the largest economies in the world. Logging, mining, fishing, sugarcane, latex, coffee, cocoa beans, cotton, soybeans, rice and tropical fruits. Brazil is one of the most industrial nations in South America producing, chemicals, steel, aircraft and cars.
Armed Forces in Brazil: The Brazilian Armed Forces consist of a unified military including the Brazilian Army, Navy and Marine Corps. The age to be in the military is 18-45. Men are the only ones admitted into the military. Language in Brazil: The official language of Brazil is Portuzuese. It is the only country in South America that speak Portuzuese. Spanish is also spoken.
Religion in Brazil: The most popular religion in Brazil is Christianity. Roman Catholics are 65% of the religion practiced. Protestants are 22%, Universal Kingdom of God, Spiritist and other religions make up the rest.
Education in Brazil: In Brazil it is mandatory for children to attend school between the ages of 6-14, which is called compulsory fundamental education. In rural areas it isn’t always enforced. Many children are kept home to help with crops to raise money for the family instead of going to school. High school is called secondary education, which is for ages 15-17 year olds. It requires 3 years or 2,200 hours of teaching after 4 years. Higher education is optional after High School.
Food in Brazil: Fresh fruits and vegetables are popular in Brazil. Many traditional dishes contain beans, rice and flour. Feijoada is the most popular dish in Brazil. It is made with a bean stew, with pork and rice. Pao de Queija is a cheese bread in Brazil. Coxinha de Galinha is a bread and deep fried snack filled with chicken. It is usually served with chili dip.
Recreation in Brazil: Soccer is the most popular sport in Brazil. Hand gliding, exploring with dune buggies, white water rafting, parachuting, kayaking, scuba diving, volleyball, mixed martial arts, basketball and motor sports are also popular recreation.
Brazil Fact Bingo Game
You may enjoy teaching your girls facts about Brazil while playing a game of bingo. In this bingo game there are 24 different Brazil facts your girls will learn about playing the game. When you draw a fact listed on the bingo cards you can also tell your girls a little bit about what each of them mean. After one game play again and have girls tell you what each fact means.
Many of the games played in Brazil are also played in the United States.
Queimado (dodgeball)
The objective of dodgeball is to eliminate all players of the opposing team by throwing one of four game balls and hitting the opposing player below the shoulders. Each team starts with ONE (1) ball and then there are TWO (2) balls evenly spread on the center line at the beginning of each game.
cabo-de-guerra (tug-of-war)
Playing the Game. Lay out the rope. In tug of war, opposing player or teams will pull on a rope until one of the teams or players succeeds at pulling the majority of the rope over to one side. To get started, all you need to do is take your rope and lay it out in a straight line on the ground.
bola de gude (marbles)
The goal of each shot is to hit one of the marbles in the center and knock it out of the circle. If the player knocks a marble out, then they get to keep the marble for the rest of the game, they also get to take another turn. If no marble is knocked out of the circle, the other player then gets a turn.
After learning everything you can about Brazil this fun patch is a addition to the back of your girls vest.
Print a picture of Brazil Flag and on other side add some facts about the flag. Fold in half and glue paper together and hook to a safety pin and use some ribbon to connect flag to pin. All you need is a printer, scissors, hole puncher, beads, and safety pins to put together.
