Book Artist Activity Booklet

This activity booklet was designed to fulfill the requirements for the Cadette Book Artist badge or can be used by frontier girl leaders to earn similar badges. Great for teachers and home schooled kids as well.

This booklet will have the girls discovering the art of bookbinding through hands-on activities. Whether you're deconstructing an old book to understand its components or creating your masterpiece from recycled materials, these activities will deepen your girl's appreciation for the art of bookmaking.

Activities Include:

1. Deep Diver Into Bookbinding – Explore book diversity with a scavenger hunt into binding and printing methods
2. What is inside a book –  Discover the components of a book through a memory challenge game. Then, dive into the physical deconstruction of an old book to observe each part up close in real time.
3. Techniques used by book artists  – Learn about the different types of bookbinding and try making various styles of books.
4. Create your book - Create your own recycled treasure out of paper bags and white paper, using the journal inserts provided in the booklet as part of the creation. 
5. Create a book with some style – Craft a mini-masterpiece! Transform popsicle sticks into a one-of-a-kind book.
